Citylets Rental Report - Supply Constriction Puts the Squeeze on Scotland’s Cities - Q3 2014 Summary

rent-trends

Whilst it is clear that from a long term perspective of 10 years and more, rises in the PRS have not even kept up with inflation, they have been rising rapidly in the last couple of years. A key driver appears to be the increasing average tenancy length and this is not likely to change until there are more affordable houses for first time buyers.

The Scottish Help to Buy scheme ran out of funding earlier this year exacerbating concerns. However at Citylets we believe that Help To Build is the key and will provide rent control through natural market forces of increasing supply, surely more desirable than through broad brushed further legislation.
