Glasgow School of Art

Quite rightly regarded as one of the finest seats of learning for those studying the visual creative disciplines, the internationally celebrated Glasgow School of Art promises a wonderful student journey for all. It offers a great range of artistic courses and a location right in the heart of the city. If you're about to study there you're in for an experience that will never be forgotten.

Originally called the Glasgow Government School of Design, it was first established in the mid-19th century. Turner Prize winners Simon Starling, Richard Wright, Martin Boyce, Duncan Campbell and Charlotte Prodger all attended Glasgow School of Art, enhancing its already impressive international reputation. New students are about to walk in some very celebrated footsteps.

The school is split into five separate academic bodies:

  • The Mackintosh School of Architecture
  • The Innovation School
  • The School of Design
  • The School of Fine Art
  • The School of Simulation and Visualisation

There are several buildings across the city which house departments, with the School of Fine Art housed in Merchant City after major fires in the original building in 2014 and 2018. Several other disciplines are based in and around the Garnethill area, within reach of all that the city has to offer. Wherever you end up studying, you won't be far away from the buzz that Glasgow is famous for.
