The company was recognised for ongoing commitment to social change and tenants\u2019 wellbeing through ethical and approachable service.<\/p>\n<p>The Social Enterprise Awards Scotland is an annual awards programme for innovation and success in social enterprise. This year\u2019s ceremony took place on November 10<sup>th<\/sup> at the Scottish Parliament. The top prize was presented by Angela Constance, Cabinet Secretary for Communities, Social Security and Equalities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/awards-for-good\/i-am-a-winner\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7238\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7238\" src=\"https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/i-am-a-winner.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/i-am-a-winner.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/i-am-a-winner-700x467.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/i-am-a-winner-1100x733.jpg 1100w, https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/i-am-a-winner-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/i-am-a-winner-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/i-am-a-winner-1536x1024.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Homes for Good has also been named the Social Enterprise of the Year at the Scottish Business Awards 2016, held on 17<sup>th<\/sup> November at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, with Leonardo DiCaprio as the keynote speaker.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Homes for Good<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/letting-agents-glasgow\/homes-for-good-scotland\/\">Homes for Good<\/a> was launched by Susan Aktemel in March 2013. Susan had already founded a national charity, Impact Arts and created the Fab Pad \u2013 an interior design project to support vulnerable people in securing long term tenancies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/awards-for-good\/homes-for-good\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2030\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2030\" src=\"https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Homes-for-Good.jpg\" alt=\"homes-for-good-logo\" width=\"243\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Homes-for-Good.jpg 634w, https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Homes-for-Good-400x385.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Homes for Good is Scotland\u2019s first social enterprise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/letting-agents\/\">letting agent<\/a>,\u00a0proactively supporting people on benefits who suffer limited housing choice in the Private Rented Sector. It offers high quality property service for landlords and reinvests all profits into helping tenants in social housing to sustain rented accommodation.<\/p>\n<p>Homes for Good manages around 250 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citylets.co.uk\/\">properties<\/a> across the West &amp; Central Belt of Scotland and provides other services too, such as energy efficiency advice, financial health, independent living skills and employability support.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Helping vulnerable tenants<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>\u201cWe pride ourselves on the work we do to support vulnerable households in accessing quality homes in the private rented sector while at the same time offering our landlord customers excellent service in the management of their properties\u201d, says Director of Homes for Good, Susan Aktemel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a social enterprise, Homes for Good thinks social in every aspect of its operations, from staffing to suppliers, from business partnerships to the support we provide to our tenants. I think it\u2019s a real tribute to the hard work and dedication of everyone at Homes for Good. We have big ambitions for the future and are looking forward to moving into new premises next year so we can provide even more targeted services to landlords and tenants including the creation of a dedicated tenant information and advice hub.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Social Microentrepreneur of the Year<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Earlier this year Susan Aktemel was named the Social Microentrepreneur of the Year at the 2016 Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards \u2013 the UK\u2019s national awards for responsible finance providers and their clients. Susan was presented with a cheque for \u00a35000 prize at the ceremony held in Manchester on March 8<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t finish there\u2026 Homes for Good\u00a0has also been automatically shortlisted for the Social Enterprise UK Awards, in which Director Susan Aktemel is the only Scottish entrepreneur of all six women nominated for the Social Enterprise Women\u2019s Champion Award.
