Link Housing Association is to deliver 199 new homes to meet a mid market renting profile. The new development has been designed by 7N Architects and will be erected on brownfield land at Salamander Place.<\/p>\n

Located between Leith Links and the docks the new homes will be built in partnership with Cruden Homes and the Teague Group. They will form part of a bigger project which could see up to 600 homes brought to the area.<\/p>\n

Director of Development & Asset Management at Link, Colin Culross, said: \u201cLink\u2019s development at Salamander Place is part of a pledge by six housing associations to match the City of Edinburgh Council\u2019s plan to build 8,000 homes within the next ten years, thereby delivering 16,000 affordable and low cost homes to the Capital.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cThe development will contribute to the ongoing regeneration of the area, creating employment and training opportunities,\u00a0as well as ensuring added value for local communities through\u00a0Link\u2019s client-based approach to community benefits in procurement.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new homes will be built using a simple palette of high quality materials and constructed to meet the silver standard of sustainability. The work could begin as early as the end of the year.<\/p>\n

The Link\u2019s development is another one to be brought to the North Edinburgh. Earlier in the year, Port of Leith Housing Association<\/a> (POLHA)\u00a0acquired land in Granton with the view to deliver mixed social and mid market<\/a>\u00a0housing as part of a wider masterplan to transform Granton Waterfront.<\/p>\n

Link Housing Association<\/a> forms part of the Link Group Ltd and it is one of the largest organisations of its kind in Scotland, providing services to more than 6,500 tenants in the social rented sector.<\/p>\n

Link Group<\/a> is committed to deliver 3,200 new affordable homes, investing more than \u00a3226m (net of subsidy and sales income) over the next five years.
