Wheatley Group has announced one of the largest affordable housebuilding programmes in the UK which will see 5,500 new homes built across Scotland by 2026. The new homes will be a mix of social and mid-market rent, including properties built to wheelchair standard and accommodation to help older people live independently for longer in their own homes.<\/p>\n

Wheatley, which was named the UK\u2019s largest builder of social rented homes for four consecutive years, has already built more than 4,000 affordable homes in the last five years. Last year alone and despite the adversity caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, Scotland\u2019s leading housing, care and property management group completed 413 new homes (329 for social rent and 84 for mid-market rent) in Glasgow, West Lothian, West Dunbartonshire, Edinburgh and Dumfries & Galloway.<\/p>\n

In the pipeline<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Work is currently underway to build 1,229 homes on 25 sites, with 16 more sites in development.<\/p>\n

Due for completion this year there are nearly 700 new homes across south and central Scotland, from Glasgow to Dumfries, Edinburgh to Clydebank and Livingston to Stranraer.<\/p>\n

These sites include 146 West Lothian Housing Partnership (WLHP) homes in\u00a0Almondvale, Livingston; 48 Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) homes in\u00a0Kennishead, Glasgow, and 58 Loretto Housing homes in\u00a0Bishopton.<\/p>\n

Wheatley\u2019s largest new-build project to deliver more than 300 homes at West Craigs in Edinburgh also starts this autumn. The new development will see 168 homes for social rent and 132 for mid-market rent being built by Dunedin Canmore over the next five years.\u00a0The homes will be then let and managed by Lowther<\/a>, who are also part of Wheatley Group.<\/p>\n

DGHP is currently on-site delivering 74 homes, with plans for 800 social rent homes over the next five years.<\/p>\n
