An innovative project at Dundee\u2019s Victoria Dock will see 119 new affordable homes delivered in the heart of the city\u2019s wider waterfront regeneration area, just a stone\u2019s throw from the V&A, Slessor Gardens and city centre.<\/p>\n

This cutting edge \u00a313 million development by Hillcrest will be the largest affordable modular scheme in Scotland, consisting of two blocks of apartments, including 66 homes for mid-market rent.<\/p>\n

Modern <\/strong>way of construction<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The project, managed by Cullross, will involve modular pods being constructed off-site at a special facility to speed up on-site construction time and limit demand on raw materials.<\/p>\n

The pods, which are constructed by Enevate Homes, will arrive at the site pre-fitted with most of the wiring, pipework and interior finishings (including kitchens and some white goods), and will be fastened together first and then attached to the steel frame to create the apartments.<\/p>\n

Energy efficiency measures built in<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The development will be a mixture of one and two bedrooms apartments with balconies offering views over the city or the river. Designed to reduce carbon footprint and tenant energy bills, the modern apartments will feature high performance insulation and cladding that exceeds the government\u2019s standard.<\/p>\n

Deputy Chief Executive at Hillcrest, Fiona Morrison, said: \u201cOur development<\/a> at Dundee\u2019s Victoria Dock is hugely special on many levels.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only is the method of constructing the modules and their application in a real-world project a first for Scotland, but the site\u2019s location in the heart of Dundee\u2019s wider waterfront regeneration adds an extra jewel in the development\u2019s crown.\u201d<\/p>\n
