Principal teacher at an independent school in Edinburgh, Nick Wise, talks openly about her views of the current rental market in the city, from the initial difficulty in trying to secure a family home to suffering a financial scam, as well as her thoughts on how \u2018renters\u2019 can be perceived.<\/p>\n

Host, Gillian Semmler, asks Nicki\u2019s perspective on the positives and negatives of private sector renting, and aspects of the main focal points of the \u2018Rented Sector Strategy\u2019. They also discuss the Scottish Government and the Green\u2019s \u2018New Deal for Tenants\u2019 and whether Nicki and her family feel they currently can make their house their home. Gillian also asks Nicki about her thoughts on how secure they feel for staying longer term in their home and whether she feels rent controls will ultimately have a positive impact for tenants or whether they could result in unintended consequences for those who are renting.<\/p>\n

With Edinburgh average monthly rents<\/a> currently standing at \u00a31,214 and Time to Lets (TTL\u2019s) at 16 days, Nicki gives her opinion on the capital\u2019s rental market and how she feels rent levels affect her ability for moving to another property.<\/p>\n
