Steve also discusses how increasing regulation could influence landlord behaviour, investment decisions and compliance pressures across the sector.<\/p>\n<h2>EPC reform, compliance and making tax digital<\/h2>\n<p>The episode also looks at some of the wider operational challenges facing landlords in Scotland, including the uncertainty surrounding EPC reform and future minimum energy efficiency standards.<\/p>\n<p>Discussion includes the practical realities for landlords with older and traditional properties, particularly tenements and period homes, as well as the steps landlords may wish to consider ahead of future reforms.<\/p>\n<p>The podcast also covers Making Tax Digital, which from April 2026 will require landlords earning more than \u00a350,000 in rental income to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC.
