Enjoy beautiful, comfortable accommodations together with the experience of living in an A-listed, Regency period mansion sited in the centre of a 58 acre public park (only 9 per cent of listed buildings in Scotland are 'A-listed', meaning, 'buildings of national or international importance, either architectural or historic'). The mansion is a neoclassical masterpiece designed by the ‘father of Glasgow architecture', David Hamilton (who also co designed the Glasgow Museum of Modern Art building). The main house was built in 1806, with the flanking wings added in 1823. The mansion's setting, when viewed from inside the flat through the original 3 over 3, sash and case windows; or from the gardens and grounds outside give the feeling of stepping into an 18th century landscape painting by Gainsborough or Constable. The surrounding public park includes the mansion's original walled garden, five minutes from the flat along a tree lined path. The household's fruits and vegetables were once grown in the walled garden, but now it has been given over to flowerbeds and is a fantastic place for reading and relaxing. The park also includes copses with resident foxes and owls, groves and pathways, a period sundial… too much to list. The illumination is state of the art, comprising German made LED lighting, all on dimmers. The fully equipped kitchen includes Bosch appliances and a dishwasher. The beautifully tiled bathroom is also new, and includes a heated towel rail, a huge medicine cabinet, a jacuzzi bathtub and subfloor heating. The bedroom has space for a king sized bed. The park is incredibly quiet at night, making for great sleeps. In the morning there is nothing quite like enjoying coffee in bed and gazing out at the birds foraging and the early risers walking their dogs. The flat includes complete laundry facilities, comprising a washing machine, condensing dryer. The kitchen, lounge, bathroom and entrance way have been tiled with natural slate with thermostat controlled subfloor heating (look carefullly and you'll find fossils in the slate). Glasgow can serve up some cold, damp and raw weather in the winter months, but between subfloor heating, new electrical heaters and the freshly insulated loft, you'll be warm and comfortable here. The flat is on the first floor and is completely secure with security locks to both close and flat, and an intercom entry system. There is plenty of outside parking, and you will be 15 - 20 minutes away from Glasgow's Merchant City by car, or by excellent bus and train services.
