Citylets Rental Market Reports
Scotland - Q4 2011 Issue 20
This issue of the Citylets Rental Report is the 20th consecutive publication in a quarterly series that started
in Q1 2007, and caps five full years of analysis. In that relatively short space of time the Scottish housing
market has experienced dramatic changes, with housing sales volumes contracting by a half while the
volume of rentals advertised on Citylets has more than doubled. It is certainly a good time to be involved in the
Private Rental Sector.
Belfast - Q4 2011 Issue 8
In December the Citylets Rental Index stood at 101.8 which means that since we started monitoring
the private rental market in Belfast in January 2008 rents have risen by 1.8%. While this represents
growth below the rate of inflation, in the same period house prices have fallen by more than 40%. It is
evident that the dramatic downturn in the housing sales market has resulted in an expansion of the
private rented sector over the last four years.
