Colinton is a designated conservation area through which the Water of Leith runs, bordered by woodland and park. It is popular with families and with people who want to explore Edinburgh from a quieter base.
Bus routes into Edinburgh are excellent with 3 routes of Lothian Buses running on a regular basis but there is also free street parking nearby so you can bring a car.

With Merchiston Castle School within walking distance, the local church and popular wedding venues nearby and within easy access of the city centre, this is a popular area to spend a short stay in Edinburgh.
