Living in Bearsden

Rightly regarded by locals more as a town in East Dunbartonshire rather than a suburb of Glasgow, Bearsden is an attractive, peaceful area which offers a tranquil alternative to the hustle and bustle of life in the city centre. It boasts plenty of history, a plethora of wide open spaces and a high standard of living. For those who wish to eat out without having to go to the centre of town, there are several excellent restaurants to be found in Milngavie Road and Kirk Road.

Despite being on the periphery of the city, commuting from Bearsden to the centre of Glasgow is surprisingly easy. Outside of the rush hour, it's possible to drive from the area to George Square in less than 25 minutes via the main A81 road. Needless to say, it can take a little longer during the morning rush hour.

Many commuters opt to use the train instead, which isn't surprising because the rail links to the centre of town are very good. Bearsden station is located in the centre of town and it provides direct trains to Glasgow Central throughout the week. Journey times can be as short as 17 minutes, which explains the popularity of houses to rent in Bearsden for those who work in the metropolis.
