Living in Dennistoun

Alexandra Park lies just to the north, close to the M8 motorway, and it provides an oasis of tranquillity for visitors of all ages. A little to the south-west you'll find Glasgow Green, a 55-hectare expanse that shares its western and southern borders with the banks of the River Clyde.

Healthcare facilities in and around Dennsitoun are of a very high standard, with Annfield Medical Centre and Meadowpark Street Surgery both in convenient locations. There are several hospitals within easy reach, including Glasgow Royal Infirmary to the north in Castle Street and, to the south of the river, the New Victoria Hospital.

Parents of young children will have a number of options to choose from when arranging education. Several primary schools are to be found in the area, including Golfhill Primary and Alexandra Parade Primary. Whitehill Secondary School is a popular choice for the older pupils, as is St Mungo's Academy, which is located in Crownpoint Road.

Fitness fanatics in Dennistoun are spoilt for choice, thanks to the number of gyms and health clubs which can be found here. As well as local establishments, there are several more city centre facilities which are within easy reach. The local streets are perfect for jogging and cycling as well, and of course the pathways through Alexandra Park are always popular for such activities.

As you might expect from a neighbourhood in the East End of the city, many locals will head to Celtic Park on match-days. The home of Celtic FC is just a mile away to the south-east. If you prefer to support the blues instead, Rangers FC are located less than four miles away across the river to the south-west. Partick Thistle's ground in Maryhill is less than three miles away to the north-west.
