Living in Hyndland

Perhaps one of the most popular neighbourhoods in the whole of Glasgow, Hyndland is a bohemian area which has an interesting mix of property types on offer. Local flats and houses include everything from brand new developments to iconic sandstone buildings from both the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Whatever you might be looking for, the chances are you will find it right here.

Hyndland is in an excellent location for commuters who work in the centre of the city. Hyndland station offers direct trains to Glasgow Queen Street throughout the day, and journey times are usually less than ten minutes. The station is located in Queensborough Gardens, and it handles over 1.6 million passenger movements every year. There are also several bus routes which pass through the area.

A number of the larger properties in Hyndland have been converted into smaller flats, and many of these are occupied by students. The area has a large student community, in part because the main campus of the University of Glasgow is less than a mile away at Gilmorehill. For many of those who live in the eastern half of Hyndland, classes are just a short walk from home.

Head off to the wide open spaces

While Hyndland is located in the heart of the city, there are still plenty of wide open spaces in which to escape. Peace and quiet is always a feature of the picturesque Kelvingrove Park and the delightful Glasgow Botanic Gardens to the east, while Victoria Park to the west offers a number of activities, including mini golf, basketball, tennis and bowls.

The centre of Glasgow, just a matter of minutes away, is a haven for people who love shopping, but it's worth remembering that retail therapy in Hyndland can be exceptionally enjoyable. Stores along Hyndland Road include independent clothing emporiums and, just when you need a little rest and recuperation, a number of excellent bars and restaurants.

One of the more pleasing aspects of living in Broomhill and Hyndland is the opportunity to savour the local coffee culture. You can relax awhile in these ultra-cool establishments with an artisan coffee and a tasty snack. On any given day you'll see professionals working on their laptops, students checking paperwork and friends and family members enjoying a get-together.

Superb choice of school for pupils of all ages

Hyndland is home to many picturesque tree-lined avenues which are perfect for pleasant jogging and cycling trips. If you prefer something with a little more structure you will be impressed by the facilities offered by Hillhead Sports Club in Hughenden Road. Sports on offer here include tennis, cricket and rugby, while there's a dedicated tennis and squash club in Hyndland Road.

This area of Glasgow is very well served by medical facilities, including several healthcare establishments in Hyndland Road.
