Scales Tip Towards Mobile Browsing

A significant shift in browsing habits has seen a huge 160% year on year rise in mobile web traffic (including tablet) to and a slight dip in desktop browsing for the first time. Mobile now accounts for around 30% of all web visitors to Citylets.

Whilst overall traffic in 2013 to date is 20% up on last year, we have witnessed a watershed moment for mobile browsing whose steep growth, in addition to the increasing numbers of visitors using our mobile Apps, has resulted in the first ever year on year dip in desktop browsing- albeit very slight at around 1%.

The news coincides with the release of our new Citylets iPhone App which is one of only two mainstream UK residential property portal Apps to allow consumers to search for agents as well as properties.

The inclusion of Agent Search is one of the key new features as well as the general aim of bringing the iPhone App more in line with desktop/mobile browsing in terms of functionality and presentation.

Citylets is still the only mainstream property portal in Scotland to have both iPhone and Android Apps.

Our main website renders well for tablet browsing however we will be releasing tablet Apps to provide consumer choice starting with the iPad which currently accounts for around 1/3 of all mobile browsing.
