Managing Director of Grant Fairbairn Property Leasing joins Lets Talk for episode 62. Having recently relocated the organisation from Aberdeen to Edinburgh, Grant chats to host Gillian Semmler about the background to his agency and the decision behind the move.

With the recent announcement from the Scottish Government on the rent freeze for existing tenancies and also the moratorium on evictions, Gillian asks Grant about his views on the emergency legislation including the financial repercussions it could have on landlords.

Grant and Gillian also discuss the Chief Executive of the Scottish Association of Landlords, John Blackwood’s statement regarding the recent announcement: “I have been inundated by landlords saying they will be removing their vacant properties from the rental market, and I don’t blame them.” Gillian chats to Grant about his views on the potential effects on the private rented sector.

Housing crisis

Glasgow University recently announced that students who had been unable to secure accommodation should not complete their registration. Grant and Gillian talk about the housing crisis in the city and in Scotland in general, and they compare back to when Aberdeen experienced a student housing crisis in 2015/16.
