Ann Leslie, CEO of LAR Housing Trust joins Lets Talk for episode 33 with host Gillian Semmler. Ann chats about her interesting background that led to her heading up the Scottish housing organisation.

With 39 sites spread across the country, Ann discusses the aims and ethos of LAR and how their finance model operates, being a not for profit charity funded solely by loans. The CEO also describes the unique, individual developments (often derived from sites “that others would walk away from”), the demand for them and the eligibility criteria.

Scottish Government’s pledge

Ann discusses how LAR Housing have contributed to the Scottish Government’s pledge to build 50,000 affordable homes by the end of its term. She also mentions their recently awarded ESG kitemark in recognition of its sustainability credentials.

Gillian also chats to Ann about the effects of the pandemic on LAR, as well as personally, and what she is most looking forward to once life regains more normality.
