As Scotland’s private rented sector evolves, landlords are facing new pressures, from increased regulation and rising costs, to the challenge of maintaining high standards for tenants. In response, Lar Housing Trust, already well known for creating high-quality mid-market rental homes, is expanding its work to support landlords directly.
In episode 104 of the Citylets podcast, Operations Manager, Nicole Maxwell, joins us to talk about Lar’s new property management and factoring service; a comprehensive approach designed to take the stress out of letting, while also helping landlords protect their investments and remain compliant.
A full-service approach for landlords
Nicole explains how the service covers the “entire letting journey,” from marketing and tenant-find to ongoing maintenance, landscaping, and shared space management. By using trusted contractors across multiple sites, Lar aims to reduce costs for landlords while maintaining consistently high service standards.
The conversation also explores how Lar’s not-for-profit model makes the service stand out: all profits are reinvested directly into providing more affordable housing, something that may appeal to landlords who want their properties to have a social impact as well as a financial return.
We also discuss who the service is for, whether portfolio landlords or smaller investors, and how having everything integrated under one roof can save time, reduce risk, and provide reassurance about compliance in a tightening regulatory environment.
Finally, Nicole shares her thoughts on Lar’s recent shortlisting for a CIH Customer Service Award, reflecting on what this recognition means to the team and what sets their approach apart.
