Rettie & Co’s Director of Lettings, Karen Turner, joined Lets Talk host Gillian Semmler for episode 41 to talk about the leading independent property company, its history and services offered, as well as the Scottish rental market – in particular, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

She discusses her journey which led her to working with Simon Rettie again and proudly talks about her lettings team who have recently been nominated for ‘Residential Letting Team of the Year’ at the Scottish Home Awards.

“…best in our class”

Karen also chats about the company’s values and culture, which have contributed towards Rettie & Co established themselves ‘as the best in class.’

Karen and Gillian also discuss the property market including property sales and the reasons for it faring well during the pandemic, despite the initial fear, particularly the higher end and larger properties. They also chat about the rental market in relation to the findings from the Citylets Q2 2021 report including the significant difference in YOY rent rises between different property sizes. Karen also shares her thoughts on the average rent increase that Glasgow recorded and whether it will be a cause for concern to policy makers and the local authority.

Gillian asks Karen about her fundraising involvements for different charities including one that involved cycling from Vietnam to Cambodia.
